Unlike flat, coastal routes such as the Escondido Creek bike path, the Santa Ana River trail, or the San Luis Rey river trail, the heart of this Californian mountain mecca offers a completely different alpine experience. From rugged mountain bike trails around Idyllwild to serene forest walks, there is a path here for every skill level.
A Forest Adventure Pass is required for parking at trailheads. Each cabin has two annual passes for your use; please return them to the cabin when you are finished. Trails entering the State Wilderness require a free day-use permit, which can be found at the San Jacinto Ranger Station (54270 Pine Crest Ave, Idyllwild, CA 92549). You can view specific permit zones on the Mount San Jacinto State Park & Wilderness Map outlining all trails in the greater area.
