Our journey into Idyllwild family cabin rentals began with a dream that started years ago in the woods of Oregon. Kelly’s most cherished childhood memories were formed in the quiet corners of her grandparents’ cabin in Sisters—a place where time slowed down and the world felt right. She wanted that same magic for her own children: a sanctuary where the kind of memories are made that stick with a family forever.
Her husband, Joey, bought into that vision immediately. In 2008, the stars aligned when they found a weathered, run-down A-frame in the San Jacinto mountains. With a massive amount of love, plenty of sweat, and more than a few tears, they restored it from the ground up. What began as a personal “fixer-upper” eventually became a Sunset Magazine model known as Idyllcreek A-Frame, setting the trajectory for what would grow to become Experience Idyllwild.

As our daughters grew and life became a whirlwind of sports and school, we realized we couldn’t be at the cabin as often as our hearts wanted. To keep the dream alive, we began sharing our home with guests to offset the costs. We never imagined that nearly twenty years later, that single labor of love would blossom into a collection of five of Idyllwild family cabin rentals.

Mike & Kim | The Village Duo Moving from Oregon in 2023, Mike is our official “boots on the ground” and full-time Property Manager—you’ll likely see him around the village ensuring every detail is perfect for your arrival. Kim brings the magic, using her creative talents to adorn the cabins with seasonal decor and keeping a sharp eye on quality control.
We’re even starting to show Sidney’s two young sons the ropes of mountain life—teaching the third generation how to appreciate the nature and community of this beautiful village we call home.
