Lindhaven - 70's Hip Retreat

Lindhaven is a well preserved treasure and a tribute to the family’s gutsy decorating style. Stepping through the A-frame threshold you are transported back into a simpler time when life moved at a slower pace. The cabin has been lovingly maintained and preserved to remain as it was originally was envisioned in the 1970’s. We have kept and acquired many unique vintage items and housewares to enhance the cabin’s vibe but have also added the modern conveniences that we have all come to expect.

Amenities & Accommodations

Lindhaven has approximately 1200 square feet of living space. There are three bedrooms accommodating 4 to 8 people (a king bed, a full bed, a set of bunkbeds, and a twin bed) and one and a half bathrooms. The cast iron wood burning stove and cozy living area are perfect for family gatherings. Cuddle up with a vintage crocheted afghan and watch one of the almost 100 DVDS or binge with the streaming player and high speed Wi-Fi. There are two wonderful decks providing places for morning coffee or afternoon glasses of wine. There are also various spots amongst the gardens to sit and paint, write or simply commune with nature. A creative, rustic seating area under the pines provides a great setting for games, tea parties, evening dinners, or glasses of wine.

This vintage cabin was built in the mid 1960’s has been in our family for three generations. The cabin was meant to be a haven for friends, family, relaxation and the pursuit of artistic endeavors. Poetry, gardening, needlework and painting were the activities of choice and the original owners were active supporters of Isomata (now called Idyllwild Arts Academy). The grouping of friendly adjacent cabins in the woods and the hippie commune across the street made for many happy social gatherings on summer nights in the 1970s. Lindhaven sits on over an acre of beautifully wooded land with a seasonal stream running through the property that feeds into Strawberry Creek. The meandering paths and bridge crossing the stream provide a serene environment for morning walks with coffee and a unique environment which children can explore for hours on end.
